CAD Technicians

Job Summary

Daniel Whelan Engineering Works have an opportunity for experienced CAD Technicians to support the design requirements of Daniel Whelan Engineering Works Ltd. The successful candidates will be motivated, driven and be capable of working effectively in a pressured and fast paced team environment.

Job Type / Category

The Role

  • Your primary role is to prepare fabrication drawings from sales to production, including: CAD detailing, preparing drawings, site construction drawings, quantifying and ordering materials, and approval of drawings.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Liaise with clients, Design Teams, Contractors & Workshop fabricators.
  • Strong design, technical and construction knowledge is essential for this role, combined with detailing, design development.
  • Good knowledge of metal fabrication & of Irish Building Regulations
  • Proactive team member
  • Strong technical and detailed design skills and site experience

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

Must be proficient in AutoCAD

3 to 5 or more years’ experience in a similar role.

Purchasing Officer

Job Summary

Daniel Whelan Engineering Works Ltd is currently seeking to fill the role of Company Purchasing Officer.

This is a key position within a successful, growing dynamic company where the successful candidate can become a key member of the management team.

Job Type / Category

The principle requirements of the position will be;

  • To achieve the most competitive rates in all areas of purchasing engineering and all other company requirements.
  • Request, compare and evaluate quotes from suppliers
  • Prepare and issue PO’s for procuring materials and all other company requirements
  • Source suitable materials as per site requirements.
  • Build and maintain good supplier relationships to achieve the best prices and supply arrangements.
  • To approve incoming invoices for payment and work closely with company finance department.
  • To prepare monthly purchasing reports and report directly to the Managing Director regarding company expenditure.
  • Ensure timely delivery and track all orders.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-4 years experience in a purchasing role within engineering, construction or power industries where you are liaising with suppliers, quantity surveyors and site management.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions within a fast-paced environment
  • Have the ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines and manage time efficiently.
